Two groups make up the Evergreen Children’s Chorale, a Colorado youth choir and musical theater performance organization. Our older group, ECC’s Company, is comprised of up to 50 children in 5th through 8th grades. Our younger group, Prelude, is comprised of up to 40 children in 2nd through 4th grades.

Auditions are held three times a year (January, May and August).  Our membership year covers a full performance season (August through May), but we also have options for fall only and spring only.  All children are welcome to audition and become involved regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, national origin, ancestry, sexual preference, affiliation, limitations or challenges.

The Evergreen Children’s Chorale was formed in January, 1991, upon the successful completion of an SCFD (Scientific and Cultural Facilities District) grant written by Jenise Harper.  Jenise and others from the community recognized a need in the mountain area for a high-quality music choir and performance ensemble specifically designed for children.

In June of 1991, ECC made their debut with a concert titled, Kids Take Center Stage. From that point on ECC has performed many other concerts and musical classics such as Annie, The Little Mermaid, Willy Wonka, Seussical Beauty and the Beast, and The Music Man.

In May, 2006, ECC was selected as the official children’s choir for the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. They also periodically perform at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in the lobby before and during intermission for The Nutcracker.  In June 2009, the Evergreen Children’s Chorale was invited by Music Celebrations International to travel to Austria for the 2009 Haydn International Youth Choral Festival. Twenty-two members and alumni joined with other youth choirs from around the world to sing in world-famous concert halls and performance venues. In the spring of 2011, members traveled to New York City to sing “Carmina Burana” with the Augustana College Choir in Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2014, ECC traveled to Washington D.C. to perform at the Capitol in celebration of the 200th Anniversary of our National Anthem.
